¡Elder Gordito!

March 25, 2013

I´m getting fat¡¡¡ People keep feeding us everytime we go to their house and also now we have to eat dinner¡¡ thirty minutes of exercise in the morning is not enough to counter the effects of eating all day.  I am kinda exercising, it´s just kinda hard because we have nothing to use, just my jump rope. We can throw the frisbee but my comp doesn´t really like to run around ehh. (Oh and also my exclamation isn´t working so I´m using the upside down one.).

The things I like most about Barranquilla are:

  • It´s breezy.
  • The members love us here.
  • It´s cheaper than Cartagena.
  • Foods that I love:  arroz con coco, the fish here is great. Well, I pretty much just eat anything people put in front of me

This week was good, we´re still mainly just working on finding new people to teach because we don´t have very many investigators. But the good thing about this week was that it was cloudy so I didn´t sweat too much.

I found out why the members love us so much, it´s because before there weren´t missionaries in this area so when they got put back, the members really appreciated them. We had some really good lessons this week, and also found a few kinda crazy people. One guy had a Jesus shrine in his back room with statues and candles burning, it freaked me out a little bit, but we´re working hard with a few people so hopefully they´ll get to baptism in April.

This week there was a National soccer game, Colombia against Bolovia. I never had a harder day in my life. Everyone was either at the game, in their house watching the game, or in a bar watching the game. It was literally impossible to have a lesson¡ Super frustrating especially since there is another tomorrow against Venezuela so it´ll be rough tomorrow too.

We have transfer tomorrow too and some one said that there is a surprise for our district so I think that means one of us that just got here is going to be leaving. I really hope it´s not me, because I really hate packing.

For pday we didn´t really do much, just chilled in the house and slept. It´s my personal goal to do something fun this coming pday, I´m sick of sitting in our house. Well that´s it¡¡ Love you all¡ Abrazos y besos¡

Baptism in Barranquilla!

March 18, 2013:

How´s it going? This week was really good, had a bunch of lessons, got new investigators and had a baptism! It was really great. My comp baptized Bestabe and I got to confirm! It was a super awesome experience.

Outside the chapel with Betsabe.
This week was really good working with the members, and of course whenever we stop by they always give us juice, soda, or food, which is super nice, but I´m always eating here... On thursday we had to go to the office to have the interview for Betsabe and while we were there I picked up my Saint Patty´s package so thank you mom! I love the little preach my gospel and Andes mints! My ward is called Cevillar and it´s on Carrera 14 (Cevillar Ward, Carrera 14, NÂș 45B 32) and we live like 3 streets to the left in front of a soccer field. It´s super depressing because we can´t play soccer.

Me, Betsabe and Elder Gonzalez
Our area is good- Elder Alverez is the district leader and my zone leaders are Elder Linder and Elder Rodriguez ( Elder Rodriguez was my District leader in Alpers).  Plus it´s always breezy here so I absolutely love that.

Bathroom picture. Elder Webb, Me, Elder Alverez, Elder Gonzales
For pday we didn´t really do much, just went to the plaza to print some pictures then came home and chilled. Hopefully we´re gonna do something cool soon, but I don´t really know what´s close around here.

To answer a few questions:

  • Rolling my rr's, well i´m stilling developing that talent!
  • Elder Webb & Alvaraz live with me and Elder Gonzalez.

Well I don´t really know what else to write, sorry this letter is lame. Love you all! Abrazos y besos!

Hasta La Vista Cartagena - Hola Barranquilla!

March 11, 2013

Hey! Don´t have a lot of time to write because my account decided to be dumb and not let me sign in for 40 minutes so I´m cramped on time.

But this week was pretty crazy. Monday night the zone leaders told me that I was going on a cambio intermedio to Barranquilla so now I´m here in barrio Cevillar.

Last pics together as District ALPES!

Left to right Elder chunga, Molina, Ortiz (up top), Anderson, Me, Hill, Morales, and Quispe.
It´s really great here and my new comp Elder Gonzales is good too (He´s from Peru and ya I´m happy. I was kinda ready to leave Cartagena. or at least that area because I had been there for so long and I feel like I can really do good here/help my comp improve there area).

The members here are really nice and always give us juice to drink when we visit which is awesome until I have to pee. We have a baptism coming up this saturday so getting pumped for that.

Also we´re looking for another house because now we have 4 missionaries in the area and we´re kinda squished in one house.

Well that´s kinda it for this week. Super short letter! Love you all! Talk to you longer next week! Abrazos y besos!
And yes, I´m giving Elder anderson a titty twister

Toes Are Getting Better - Working Hard

March 4, 2013

Hello! This week was pretty good. Worked more with the members of the ward and got a few new families to teach from them. It seems like everyone we found this week isn`t married so we`re going to have to work to that alot this week.

We also had a sweet devotional thing on sunday with the mission president and the stake and it was about how the strengthen the family. While we were there we talked to these people and turned out that they live in our area.

Also Janeth got to talk in front of everyone about her conversion process and in the end she gave me a little shout out, awesome!

The Zone leaders went to Baranquilla on Friday and came back with letters and a package! (Valentines Day) So this week I`ll be writing responses to people!

Today we didn`t really do anything for pday because we didn`t have investigators at church so we just chilled. This week that`s coming is going to be a little slow because tomorrow I have to go to Barranquilla with my comp because he has heart problems and has to go to the doctor every 6 months so I`m not sure how long I`m going to be there.

The toes are feeling much better - which has been nice.  I also think that I'll be leaving Cartagena with our next transfers.

But ya, this week was good! Working hard to improve with my comp! Love you all! Abrazos y besos!
